Ddev Plastiks Industries Limited has announced its strategic entry into the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) segment, marking a significant diversification into India’s rapidly growing renewable energy ecosystem. The decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on January 5, 2026, and disclosed in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements.
As India accelerates its transition toward clean energy, the intermittent nature of renewable sources such as solar and wind has increased the need for robust energy storage solutions. Battery Energy Storage Systems are emerging as a critical enabler for grid stability, peak load management, and efficient energy utilization. Recognizing this opportunity, Ddev Plastiks plans to position itself within this high-growth segment.
According to global estimates, the BESS market is witnessing strong momentum, driven by decarbonization targets and large-scale renewable adoption. In India alone, energy storage capacity is projected to scale rapidly by the end of the decade, opening substantial opportunities across utility-scale, commercial and industrial, and residential applications.
Aligned with these trends, Ddev Plastiks proposes a multi-phase BESS manufacturing program. Under Phase 1, the company plans to set up a 5 GWh BESS manufacturing facility by FY 2026–27, with an estimated capital investment of ₹150–200 crore. A key pillar of this initiative will be the establishment of a state-of-the-art Research and Development centre focused on advanced battery technologies, performance optimization, and cost-efficient storage solutions.
This strategic expansion underscores Ddev Plastiks’ intent to actively participate in India’s renewable energy transition. The company expects the new BESS business to begin contributing to revenues from the second half of FY 2026–27, strengthening its long-term growth outlook while supporting the nation’s clean energy ambitions.
