The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has achieved a major milestone by commissioning 25 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity under various government schemes, including the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) Scheme, Standard Bidding Guidelines (SBG) projects, solar manufacturing-linked projects, the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme, and other initiatives.

The commissioned projects, developed through tariff-based competitive bidding and long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), have contributed significantly to the steady expansion of grid-connected solar capacity across India. States and Union Territories benefiting from these projects include Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, among others.

Officials said the achievement reinforces SECI’s role in accelerating India’s renewable energy transition, strengthening national energy security and reducing carbon emissions. By setting benchmarks in large-scale solar deployment, SECI continues to support the government’s goal of a sustainable and low-carbon energy future.
