AM Group, an energy transition platform backed by the founders of Greenko Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Invest UP, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, to establish a 1 GW high-performance compute (HPC) hub to support global artificial intelligence (AI) workloads.
Under the agreement, AM Group will develop an AI infrastructure hub in the Greater Noida region with a planned investment of approximately USD 25 billion. The project will be implemented in phases, with the first capacity expected to become operational by 2028 and the full 1 GW capacity targeted by 2030. The initiative aligns with Uttar Pradeshโs ambition to emerge as a leading AI hub and supports the Government of Indiaโs Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
The proposed facility will house around 500,000 high-performance chipsets and is expected to be among the largest AI and digital infrastructure investments in India to date. It is designed to cater to the growing demand for high-performance computing and AI workloads from global hyperscalers, enterprises, frontier research labs and Indiaโs sovereign AI initiatives, while operating on carbon-free energy.
Carbon-Free AI Infrastructure
The HPC hub will leverage AM Groupโs renewable energy capabilities and will be powered by 24/7 carbon-free energy, including wind, solar and pumped storage solutions. According to the company, the project reflects its commitment to building sustainable and carbon-neutral intelligent economic solutions.
AMG AI Labs, which aims to democratise AI, is developing an end-to-end value chain from energy generation to AI compute. The platform will support the creation of customised AI models and applications across sectors such as energy, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, media and gaming. The facility is also expected to improve access to advanced chipsets for Indiaโs developer community, enabling faster development of AI solutions for domestic and global markets.
Key Project Features
The AI hub will feature a scalable, phased infrastructure rollout, a strategic location supported by Uttar Pradeshโs industrial corridors and data centre policy, and high-reliability, low-latency connectivity to key digital markets.
Economic Impact and Industry Statements
The MoU was exchanged at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos in the presence of senior government officials and AM Groupโs leadership. The project is expected to attract significant foreign direct investment and create thousands of high-skilled jobs, while supporting the development of a local ecosystem for hardware manufacturing, software development and advanced cooling technologies.
Commenting on the development, Anil Chalamalasetty, Group Chairman, AM Group, said the evolution of the global AI ecosystem will be critical for future generations, adding that AMG AI Labsโ focus on converting energy into intelligent compute is a natural extension of the groupโs technology-led approach.
Mahesh Kolli, Group President, AM Group, said that combining 1 GW of compute capacity with round-the-clock green power would create a sustainable template for the future of global AI infrastructure, supported by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
