Haleon Indonesia has begun operating a rooftop solar energy system at its manufacturing facility in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, as part of its commitment to sustainability and clean energy. Haleon, a global consumer healthcare company known for brands like Panadol, Sensodyne, Actifed, and Voltaren, emphasizes that human health is closely linked to the health of the planet. The company has made sustainability a central focus, implementing energy efficiency measures and adopting renewable energy sources across its operations.
The Pulogadung facility is a key site for Haleon, supplying healthcare products to both the domestic market and several countries in Southeast Asia. The newly launched 416.97 kWp rooftop solar system is expected to produce around 577,647 kWh of green energy annually. This is projected to reduce over 449 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent each year, which is roughly the same as the carbon absorption of more than 7,460 trees. The renewable energy generated by the system will directly support the production of Haleonโs consumer healthcare products, contributing to more sustainable manufacturing processes.
Suwandi Yulia Putra, Director of the Pulogadung site, said the project demonstrates Haleonโs global sustainability commitments in practical terms. She highlighted that sustainability is now a core responsibility in the healthcare industry, not an optional initiative. The rooftop solar system marks a significant step in Haleonโs decarbonization journey, reducing operational emissions and supporting greener production in Indonesiaโs healthcare sector.
The solar project was implemented in collaboration with SUN Energy, a company specializing in developing solar power solutions for industrial and commercial use. Jefferson Kuesar, CEO of SUN Energy, noted that the healthcare sectorโs strict operational standards make the adoption of renewable energy particularly impactful. He emphasized that working with companies like Haleon sends a strong signal that energy transition is necessary across all industries and that SUN Energy aims to support efficient, low-emission production processes.
This rooftop solar initiative goes beyond generating clean energy; it represents a strategic move in Haleonโs long-term plan to enhance operational sustainability. By investing in renewable energy, the company aims to strengthen environmentally responsible practices while meeting growing demand for high-quality healthcare products produced in a greener, more sustainable way. The project also showcases the potential for the healthcare sector to contribute meaningfully to the adoption of clean energy in Indonesia.
