POWERGRID Commissions 4.5 GW Transmission Project To Boost Renewable Energy Evacuation At Khavda

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a leading Government of India enterprise, has achieved a major milestone in strengthening the country’s renewable energy infrastructure. On February 2, 2026, the company informed the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited about the successful completion of a large transmission project designed to support green energy evacuation.

The project was carried out by POWERGRID Khavda II-C Transmission Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of POWERGRID. This subsidiary was formed after winning the mandate through a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding process. The main aim of the project was to implement an Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) named “Transmission scheme for evacuation of 4.5 GW RE injection at Khavda PS under Phase-II, Part C.”

According to the official filing, the transmission project was fully commissioned on January 31, 2026. After completing the technical work, the company received the formal Notification for Commercial Operation (DOCO) on February 2, 2026, marking the official start of operations. With this, the project is now ready to transmit power as planned under the scheme.

The disclosure was made in line with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. These rules require listed companies to inform stock exchanges of significant events that may impact operations or finances. The notification was signed by Satyaprakash Dash, the Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of POWERGRID.

The successful commissioning of the 4.5GW Khavda scheme is an important step in India’s strategy to integrate large-scale renewable energy into the national grid. By creating the infrastructure needed to evacuate power from renewable energy sources, POWERGRID continues to play a key role in the country’s clean energy transition. The company’s corporate headquarters are located in Gurugram, Haryana, while its registered office is in New Delhi. This project further strengthens India’s renewable energy capabilities and highlights POWERGRID’s central role in supporting sustainable energy growth nationwide.
