Renewable energy developer Alternergy Holdings Corporation has commenced commercial operations of its 28 MWp Balsik Solar Power Plant through its subsidiary, Solana Solar Alpha, Inc. (SSAI).

The project began delivering electricity after completing testing and commissioning and securing the Final Certificate of Authority to Connect (FCATC) from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

According to Gerry P. Magbanua, President of Alternergy and Director of SSAI, the facility will supply clean power directly to industrial and commercial customers, supporting their sustainability initiatives.

Annual Generation and Environmental Impact

The Balsik Solar Power Plant is expected to generate approximately 45,000 MWh of renewable energy annually. The project is also projected to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 31,000 metric tons per year, contributing to environmental protection efforts.

Project Specifications

The solar facility spans 30 hectares and is equipped with 45,600 bifacial solar modules supported by six inverter stations. It is connected to the NGCP Hermosa Substation through a 300-meter, 69kV transmission line.

The plant strengthens Alternergyโ€™s expanding solar portfolio, which currently includes 10 operational solar assets comprising ground-mounted systems, commercial rooftop installations, and hybrid solar-plus-battery energy storage projects.

Expansion Pipeline and 2026 Milestones

Alternergy is also advancing three additional projects secured under the Green Energy Auction (GEA) 4 program: the Liberty Floating Solar Power Projects Phase 1 and 2, and the Kalandagan Solar plus Energy Storage System. These developments have a combined capacity of up to 240 MWp.

The Balsik facility is the first of four new power projects slated for completion in 2026. The company plans to commission four projects this year across its โ€œTriple Playโ€ portfolio of solar, wind, and hydro technologies, with a total combined capacity of 225 MW.

Company leadership stated that bringing multiple projects online in 2026 marks a pivotal year for Alternergy, as the new assets are expected to generate a steady revenue stream and reinforce the firmโ€™s end-to-end project development capabilitiesโ€”from pre-development to commercial operations.
