Indiaโ€™s renewable energy sector has received a strong push after the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) concluded multiple auctions under its Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) schemes, awarding more than 11 GW of capacity across solar, hybrid, wind, Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE), and manufacturing-linked projects.

The auctions recorded highly competitive tariff discovery, showing continued investor confidence and strong competition in Indiaโ€™s clean energy market. SECI clarified that a trading margin of โ‚น0.07 per kWh will be charged over and above the discovered tariffs across all schemes.

Under the ISTS Tranche-XXI Solar plus Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) auction, SECI allocated 1,200 MW at tariffs ranging from โ‚น3.12 to โ‚น3.13 per unit. Key winners included NLC India Renewables Limited, Engie Energy India, RPIL Power Three, and Oriana Power. These projects will supply solar power at the committed Capacity Utilisation Factor and also provide additional electricity during peak hours, helping improve grid stability.

In ISTS Tranche-XX Solar plus BESS, SECI awarded 2,000 MW at tariffs between โ‚น2.86 and โ‚น2.87 per unit. Companies such as Welspun Renewable Energy, Shivalaya Construction, Purvah Green Power, and SAEL Industries secured major allocations. Developers under this scheme must supply additional power during evening peak demand hours, strengthening the integration of storage-backed renewable energy into the national grid.

In the manufacturing-linked solar category, SECI awarded 2,366 MW, with tariffs going as low as โ‚น2.42 per unit. Azure Power India and Adani Green Energy Four Limited emerged as major winners. These projects are expected to support domestic solar manufacturing while adding new generation capacity, aligning with Indiaโ€™s focus on self-reliance in renewable energy equipment.

The hybrid segment also saw strong participation. Under Hybrid Tranche-VIII and IX, 1,800 MW was allocated at tariffs between โ‚น3.25 and โ‚น3.46 per unit. Winners included JSW Neo Energy, ACME Solar Holdings, Juniper Green Energy, AMPIN Energy Utility, and Avaada Energy.

Meanwhile, the ISTS Wind Tranche-XIX auction awarded 1,200 MW at tariffs ranging from โ‚น3.67 to โ‚น3.69 per unit. Developers such as KP Energy, Waaree Forever Energies, and Vena Energy Aura secured projects.

In the FDRE category, tariffs ranged from โ‚น6.27 to โ‚น8.10 per unit due to assured peak supply commitments. Serentica Renewables, ACME Solar Holdings, and Adyant Enersol won projects that guarantee electricity during non-solar hours, improving supply reliability for distribution companies.
