Hassan Allam Holding has announced that its subsidiary, Hassan Allam Construction, has been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Benban Solar Plant in Egypt.
The project is being developed by Hassan Allam Utilities’ Energy Platform in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Meridiam, and Infinity Power Holding.
200 MW Solar with 120 MWh Battery Storage
The Benban Solar Plant will integrate 200 MW of solar generation capacity with 120 MWh of advanced battery energy storage, forming a hybrid renewable energy hub. Hassan Allam Construction’s scope includes full EPC delivery, grid interconnections, and supporting infrastructure. The project is scheduled to achieve operational readiness in the second half of 2026.
Supporting Egypt’s Renewable Energy Targets
The development aligns with Egypt’s national energy strategy, which aims to increase the share of renewables in the country’s energy mix to 42% by 2030 and 65% by 2040. The project further strengthens Egypt’s position as a regional clean energy hub.
According to the company, the milestone reflects strong international investor confidence in Egypt’s energy transition framework. Currently, more than 50% of Hassan Allam Utilities’ portfolio is backed by foreign investors, highlighting the Group’s role in facilitating global-local partnerships in strategic sectors while promoting local talent development and industry knowledge transfer.
The Benban project marks another step in scaling integrated renewable infrastructure in Egypt, combining utility-scale solar generation with grid-supporting battery storage systems.
