Iberdrola has once again been recognised as the world’s most sustainable electricity company, earning this distinction for the seventh year in a row in the Clean200 ranking. The list, compiled by Corporate Knights and As You Sow, evaluates more than 8,000 companies globally to identify leaders in the clean and sustainable economy.
In the latest edition, Iberdrola rose five places to reach 17th position among the 200 top publicly listed companies featured in the ranking. Clean200 measures revenue linked to sustainable activities, based on Corporate Knights’ Sustainable Economy Taxonomy. Iberdrola’s strong performance reflects its continued ability to balance sustainability with energy security and business competitiveness, driven by its long-term focus on electrification and clean-energy investment.
Clean200, created in 2016 through the joint efforts of As You Sow and Corporate Knights, has consistently shown that companies prioritising clean energy tend to outperform those associated with fossil fuel business models. Iberdrola’s placement among the global leaders further reinforces the company’s role as a pioneer in renewable energy and responsible growth.
This recognition adds to a series of recent achievements. Iberdrola is listed among the top electricity companies in S&P’s Sustainability Yearbook 2026 and has maintained its place in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices for 25 consecutive years, the only European utility to remain included since the index’s inception.
The company has also once again secured a position on the CDP “A List” and continues to be represented in major global ESG rankings and indices such as Moody’s ESG, MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS-ESG, EcoVadis and FTSE4Good. Together, these accolades highlight Iberdrola’s continued leadership in sustainability and its ability to deliver reliable, clean energy while advancing global climate and environmental goals.
