Origis Energy has announced the final commissioning and start of operations of three Swift Air Solar facilities in Texas, developed to supply clean power to Occidental’s operations in West Texas, including its STRATOS Direct Air Capture (DAC) facility.
The Swift Air Solar portfolio was planned, developed and constructed by Origis Energy in three phases, with the final phase completed in late 2025. Combined, the projects represent more than $650 million in infrastructure investment in Ector County and the wider West Texas region. The facilities have a total capacity of 500 MWdc.
According to Origis Energy, the solar installations will provide dedicated renewable electricity to support Occidental’s operations in the Permian Basin, including the STRATOS facility, which is among the largest direct air capture projects under development in the United States.
Vikas Anand, Chief Executive Officer of Origis Energy, said the partnership reflects collaboration with an energy industry leader and highlights the growing importance of large-scale infrastructure to meet evolving U.S. energy demands. He added that the 500 MWdc Swift Air portfolio demonstrates the company’s development and execution capabilities.
Joe Lavoy, Vice President of Oxy Low Carbon Ventures at Occidental, said new power infrastructure is critical to unlocking the full potential of resources in the Permian Basin. He noted that securing power from purpose-built solar facilities supports growing energy needs while advancing large-scale direct air capture technology.
The commissioning of the Swift Air Solar facilities strengthens renewable energy deployment in Texas while supporting decarbonisation initiatives tied to industrial operations in the region.
