Global clean energy developer EnerSynk Group has appointed Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, the 6th President of Mauritius, as its Emeritus Chairperson, reinforcing the companyโs global sustainability strategy amid growing climate urgency.
The appointment aligns with EnerSynkโs expansion of renewable energy generation and deployable carbon management systems across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Founder Jason Temasfieldt described the move as part of a broader shift toward integrated climate infrastructure.
โThe climate conversation has matured. The question is no longer whether we transition, but how fast we build,โ Temasfieldt said, adding that the company is focused on developing infrastructure ecosystems that combine clean energy production, industrial growth and measurable carbon management rather than standalone solar projects.
Dr. Gurib-Fakim said the partnership comes at a pivotal time for climate-responsive development. She emphasised that sustainable development must be rooted in science, accountability and measurable impact, calling for nations to adopt integrated renewable energy and deployable carbon systems within national strategies.
Renewable Expansion Across Key Markets
EnerSynk currently operates in India, Hungary, Zambia and the United Arab Emirates, with negotiations underway for a 500 MW solar project in Zambia and a 150 MW solar project in Zimbabwe. The Group has also announced plans to enter the United States market.
In Europe, the company has signed a Power of Attorney agreement for 240,000 square metres of industrial land in Bรณcsa, aiming to develop the site into a clean technology and advanced manufacturing hub to attract international manufacturers.
Deployable Carbon Infrastructure Innovation
A key element of EnerSynkโs innovation portfolio is FORESTAโข, a containerised microalgae-based atmospheric infrastructure system developed in collaboration with MicroAlgaeX. The system is designed for dense urban and industrial environments and operates within a standard 20-foot container.
According to Giuliano Regonesi, Italian researcher and CEO of MicroAlgaeX, microalgae are among the most efficient natural carbon converters, capable of capturing carbon dioxide faster than trees under controlled conditions while producing measurable outputs.
Each FORESTAโข unit occupies approximately 14 square metres and is engineered to capture between 8 and 14 metric tons of COโ annually, while producing 4 to 8 metric tons of oxygen and generating commercially usable biomass. The system also reduces nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter through continuous photosynthesis. ISO certification is currently in process.
Chairman Huzaifa Khorakiwala said EnerSynkโs next growth phase will combine governance, scientific innovation and scalable execution, integrating utility-scale renewable generation, industrial corridors and deployable atmospheric systems.
The company describes its model as the next phase of climate-aligned infrastructure development, positioning renewable energy and carbon management as interconnected pillars of future industrial ecosystems.
