UAE and Brazil Presidents Strengthen Strategic Ties with Focus on Renewable Energy and Economic Cooperation

Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, held talks with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Brazil, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation under the framework of their longstanding strategic partnership.

The discussions took place during President Lula da Silva’s working visit to the UAE. Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Brazilian leader and expressed appreciation for his continued support in strengthening ties between the two nations.

Both leaders reviewed progress in UAE–Brazil relations, particularly in the economic, trade, and development sectors. They explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in priority areas including advanced technology, space, renewable energy, sustainability, food security, education, and logistics, alongside other fields aligned with sustainable development goals in both countries.

The talks also covered ongoing negotiations between the UAE and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) toward establishing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has reached its final stage. The two sides expressed optimism that the agreement, once concluded, would unlock broader economic opportunities and enhance trade and investment flows between the UAE and Brazil.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted that diplomatic relations between the two countries span more than five decades and continue to expand across multiple sectors in line with shared long-term objectives.

In addition to bilateral cooperation, the leaders exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern. They underscored the importance of supporting international peace and stability, particularly in the Middle East and beyond, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening global security frameworks.

The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials, including Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, along with ministers and members of the Brazilian delegation.

Earlier in the day, President Lula da Silva was received at the Presidential Flight in Abu Dhabi by Sheikh Mohamed and several senior officials, marking the start of his official engagements in the UAE.
