Nippon Benex has officially commenced operation of its new solar power plant, Benex Konan City 1 Solar Port, installed on the roof of the “UIB Konan Logistics Center II,” a logistics facility developed by Unified Industrial Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of UIB Holdings, in Konan City, Shiga Prefecture. The plant is one of the largest operational rooftop solar facilities in Japan installed on a single logistics site under a roof-rental system.
The solar plant has a total output of 6,012.5 kW and was constructed using 9,620 solar modules mounted on the facility’s roof. All electricity generated will be sold to external buyers through the Feed-in Premium (FIP) system. The facility is expected to produce approximately 5.03 million kWh of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the power consumption of around 1,678 average households. The project is equipped with solar panels supplied by Trina Solar and power conditioning systems from SUNGROW, and FIP operations officially began on April 2, 2026.
With the operation of Benex Konan City 1 Solar Port, Nippon Benex now owns and operates 57 power plants across Japan, with a total capacity of approximately 87.2 MW. Of these, 40 are rooftop solar plants on logistics facilities, representing 78.2 MW, and 32 are FIP solar plants, totaling 66.3 MW. The company continues to expand its contribution to Japan’s renewable energy sector, focusing on constructing and operating solar power facilities to promote clean energy adoption across the country.
Benex Konan City 1 Solar Port highlights Nippon Benex’s commitment to sustainable energy development, combining large-scale electricity generation with innovative rooftop installation solutions. The project also demonstrates how renewable energy can be integrated efficiently into industrial infrastructure, supporting both local energy supply and environmental goals.
