Orrön Energy AB has shared an update on its renewable energy activities across Europe, highlighting progress in Germany and new strategic plans in the United Kingdom. The company has completed the sale of another solar energy project in Germany, secured approval for a large battery storage project, and started evaluating options to sell a significant portion of its UK solar portfolio.
The company has sold a 91 MW Agri-PV (agricultural photovoltaic) solar project located in eastern Germany to Gülermak Renewables Ltd. This type of project allows solar power generation to coexist with agricultural activities on the same land.
The project also includes the possibility of adding a battery storage system alongside the solar installation. At present, the project has reached the ready-to-permit stage, meaning that it is well advanced in development but still requires approvals before construction can begin.
Orrön Energy will continue to develop the project further until it reaches the ready-to-build stage, which is expected to happen no later than 2027. The financial structure of the deal includes a total consideration of up to EUR 5.6 million, which also covers reimbursement of development costs incurred so far. This translates to approximately EUR 62,000 per MW.
Out of the total amount, EUR 2.4 million has already been received at the time of completion. The remaining amount will be paid in stages, depending on the achievement of specific development milestones as the project progresses toward construction readiness. This latest sale is part of a broader trend for the company in Germany.
Since the summer of 2025, Orrön Energy has entered into agreements to sell a total of 400 MW of solar projects in the country. These transactions together are valued at up to EUR 23 million. However, a significant portion of this amount, around EUR 17 million, remains contingent and will only be received once certain project milestones are successfully achieved.
Alongside these sales, Orrön Energy continues to build and strengthen its renewable energy pipeline in Germany. The company is developing a large greenfield platform with a total capacity of 6 GW. As part of this effort, a new battery storage project with a capacity of 500 MW has recently received municipal approval.
This brings the company’s total battery portfolio with approved permits to 1.4 GW. In addition, Orrön Energy has around 1 GW of solar projects where land has already been secured and grid connections are available. These projects are now being advanced toward the ready-to-permit stage, indicating steady progress in expanding its development pipeline.
In the United Kingdom, the company is taking a strategic step by exploring the possible sale of its 1.8 GW solar project portfolio. These projects have recently achieved Gate 2 grid confirmation from the national system operator, which is an important milestone in the UK energy development process. As a result, the projects have reached the ready-to-permit stage, with both land access and grid capacity already secured.
While the company is considering divestment options, the timing of any potential sale may depend on receiving formal grid connection details. These are expected to be issued before early 2027. Overall, Orrön Energy is continuing to move forward with its strategy of developing renewable energy projects and monetizing them at the right stage. The company is making steady progress in Germany through both project sales and new approvals, while also preparing to potentially unlock value from its large solar portfolio in the UK.
