Enfinity Global, a major player in the renewable energy sector, has signed bilateral agreements that cover a total of 1.8 TWh of electricity under Italy’s Energy Release 2.0 program. These agreements aim to support the development of new power capacity that will supply energy to Italian industrial customers. The companies involved include several well-known energy-intensive firms and energy market operators such as Feralpi, ISAB, De Angeli, and Magis Energia.
To fulfill the contracted energy volumes, Enfinity plans to construct around 120 MW of new solar photovoltaic capacity in different parts of Italy. These new solar plants are expected to be connected to the national grid by the second quarter of 2029. Once operational, they will help increase the amount of electricity available in the country, giving industrial customers access to more stable and predictable energy prices, which can improve long-term budgeting and investment planning.
The Energy Release 2.0 mechanism, introduced by Italy’s Agency for Energy Transition (Gestore dei Servizi Energetici – GSE), is designed to connect the energy requirements of high-consumption companies with the construction of new renewable energy facilities.
Through this system, companies can secure dedicated energy volumes by committing to support the development of new renewable generation capacity. This approach aims to promote investment in clean energy while giving large industrial users access to reliable long-term power supplies.
Alice Cajani, General Manager of Enfinity Energy Commercialization Europe, expressed appreciation toward the participating companies for placing their confidence in Enfinity. She noted that these agreements further demonstrate Enfinity’s strong record of collaboration with industrial clients.
According to her, customers who consume large amounts of energy will benefit from more predictable energy prices, which in turn can help strengthen their competitiveness and provide stability in an otherwise uncertain market. She also highlighted that connecting customer demand directly with the creation of new renewable power capacity will allow the planned 120 MW to quickly contribute to strengthening Italy’s energy supply for industrial use.
Enfinity continues to grow its presence in Italy and is currently developing a significant pipeline of about 8.5 GW across both solar and energy storage projects. The company already operates 345 MW of capacity in the country and has another 460 MW under construction.
These efforts align with Enfinity’s long-term goal of supporting Italy’s energy system by increasing renewable electricity generation and meeting the needs of industrial consumers. Since beginning operations in the country, Enfinity has secured power purchase agreements that amount to roughly 805 MW of capacity, reflecting its consistent ability to form lasting partnerships with energy-intensive industries.
