ReNew Energy Global Plc announced that it has commissioned approximately 2.4 GW of new renewable energy assets in FY2026, taking its total operating capacity to around 12.6 GW. This places the company among the largest renewable energy producers in India. The figure accounts for the sale of 600 MW of assets completed during the year, as of March 31, 2026.
The newly commissioned capacity includes 1.75 GW of solar projects, 0.62 GW of wind projects, and 25 MW/100 MWh of battery energy storage systems. In addition, ReNew has another 450 MW of fully built capacity that is expected to be commissioned soon. With ongoing projects included, the company’s gross capacity now stands at nearly 20 GW.For more than fifteen years, ReNew has played a leading role in driving India’s clean energy transition and has built a strong presence in both the utility-scale and commercial & industrial markets.
Its C&I arm, ReNew Green, has a committed capacity of 2.5 GW, with more than 2.0 GW already in operation. The business works closely with well-known global players such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. In March 2026, ReNew Green secured a USD 95 million equity investment from a consortium led by Leapfrog Investments, strengthening its position in the corporate renewable energy sector.ReNew has also expanded significantly in solar manufacturing and now operates one of India’s largest integrated renewable manufacturing portfolios.
The company has 6.5 GW of solar module capacity and 2.5 GW of cell capacity already in operation, with an additional 4 GW of capacity expected to come online by December 2026. During FY2026, ReNew’s solar facilities produced over 4.1 GW of modules and nearly 1.86 GW of cells. Earlier in the year, the company received a USD 100 million equity infusion from British International Investments to support its manufacturing growth.
With operations spread across more than 150 renewable energy sites and three solar manufacturing facilities located in ten states, ReNew continues to deepen its presence across the country. The organisation employs around 4,500 people and, with an operating capacity of approximately 12.6 GW, generates clean electricity equivalent to powering 24 million households. This contribution helps avoid nearly 23 million tonnes of CO₂e emissions every year.Reflecting on the company’s progress, Sumant Sinha, Founder, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of ReNew, said that FY2026 has been a landmark year.
He highlighted that commissioning 2.4 GW in a single year demonstrates strong execution capabilities and reaffirms the long-term potential of India’s renewable energy sector, even amid global economic and geopolitical uncertainties. He noted that increasing power demand, competitive renewable energy costs, and supportive policies in India provide a strong foundation for continued growth in the years ahead.
