SolarEdge Technologies has inaugurated its new Research and Development (R&D) Campus, named the India Development Center (IDC), in East Bangalore, expanding the company’s engineering and innovation footprint in India.
The new facility has been established as part of SolarEdge’s broader strategy to strengthen its global product development and innovation support capabilities. According to the company, the expansion will enhance cross-regional collaboration across its international R&D network while increasing access to advanced engineering expertise and technology talent in India.
The India Development Center will focus on the development of next-generation power electronics and smart energy technologies. SolarEdge plans to recruit engineers across multiple domains, including embedded power electronics, embedded control systems, hardware design, mechanical engineering, and integration testing.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Mr. Liron Har Shai, Chief R&D Officer at SolarEdge, along with delegates from the company’s global headquarters. Commenting on the expansion, he stated that the new Bangalore facility would strengthen SolarEdge’s ability to innovate at scale, accelerate product development, and collaborate with highly skilled engineering talent.
Mr. Sanjay Puri, Country Manager of SolarEdge India, highlighted India’s growing importance as both a major solar market and an emerging destination for global engineering centers. He noted that the new R&D and Technology Center reflects SolarEdge’s investment in innovation, infrastructure, and talent to support the next phase of solar industry growth in India and international markets.
Mr. Sivamani Kukunur, Head of R&D at SolarEdge India, said the India Development Center would serve as an important part of the company’s global R&D ecosystem, supporting advanced research capabilities and engineering innovation for smart energy solutions worldwide.
SolarEdge is already active in India’s photovoltaic (PV) market, offering residential and commercial solar solutions, battery storage systems, and related customer support services from Bangalore. The company’s portfolio includes solar inverters, power optimizers, energy storage systems, and a cloud-based monitoring platform designed for residential, commercial, and small utility-scale solar applications.
