The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) seeking consultancy services for the year 2026. The notice, released in June 2026, is part of the organizationโ€™s efforts to strengthen its operational planning and execution for the upcoming fiscal year. Through this process, the organization aims to engage experienced consulting firms and experts who can support its future projects and improve overall efficiency.

According to the EoI document, the selected consultants will provide strategic guidance, technical assessments, and risk management support across several important areas of operation. The initiative is intended to help the organization adopt modern and data-driven approaches in its decision-making processes. By bringing in external expertise, the organization expects to improve project implementation, maintain regulatory compliance, and achieve its development targets more effectively.

The EoI invites participation from consulting firms, independent advisors, and specialized consortiums with relevant experience. Applicants must demonstrate a strong track record in delivering successful consultancy assignments, particularly in areas related to institutional reforms, operational improvements, and project management. The eligibility requirements also include financial stability and the availability of qualified professionals with expertise in key sectors.

A significant focus of the consultancy engagement will be on digital transformation and sustainable development. The organization has emphasized the importance of technological capabilities and innovative solutions that can support modern governance practices and improve organizational performance. This reflects the growing importance of sustainability and digitalization in large-scale public sector projects.

The selection process will be conducted in multiple stages. During the current EoI phase, interested participants are required to submit their company profiles, capability statements, and preliminary technical proposals. These submissions will be reviewed by the organization, and only shortlisted applicants will move to the next stage.

The shortlisted firms will then be invited to participate in a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process, where they will submit detailed technical and financial bids. The final selection will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of the proposals and the ability of the applicants to meet the organizationโ€™s requirements.

Officials associated with the process have highlighted the importance of adhering to the prescribed timelines. The online submission portal has already been activated, and all interested parties must submit their applications and clarification requests within the specified deadlines. Applications that fail to comply with the stated requirements or are submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
