Rajesh Power Services Limited (RPSL) has received a major contract worth ₹211.68 crore from Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) for the development of a high-voltage underground transmission project in Odisha. The contract includes taxes and is considered an important milestone for the company as it expands its operations into eastern India.
Under the agreement, RPSL will be responsible for the complete execution of the project on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis. The scope of work includes designing, engineering, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning a 220 kV single-circuit underground cable transmission line. The transmission line will connect the 400/220/132/33 kV Grid Substation (GSS) at Mendhasal with the 220/132/33 kV GIS Grid Substation at Chandaka-B in Odisha.
In addition to laying the underground transmission cable, the project also includes the extension of transmission infrastructure at both substations. RPSL will construct one 220 kV Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) bay extension at GSS Mendhasal and one 220 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) bay extension at Chandaka-B. These additions are expected to support the efficient operation of the transmission network and improve power transfer capabilities in the region.
The contract is one of the largest transmission-related orders secured by the company so far. It is expected to strengthen the company’s order book and enhance its position in the power transmission sector. The project also highlights RPSL’s growing expertise in handling complex transmission infrastructure projects and delivering turnkey EPC solutions.
The award marks the company’s entry into Odisha and further broadens its geographical presence in India’s power sector. It also reflects the confidence of major transmission utilities in the company’s technical capabilities and project execution experience.
The project is scheduled to be completed within a period of 24 months. Once completed, it is expected to contribute to the strengthening and modernization of Odisha’s power transmission network. The new order also supports the broader goal of expanding and upgrading India’s electricity infrastructure to meet growing energy demand and improve grid reliability across regions.
