Oman’s Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to appoint a qualified techno-economic consultancy for a renewable energy feasibility study in the Musandam Governorate. The tender has been issued under reference number OPWP/2026/035.
The study aims to assess the technical and economic potential of different renewable energy and energy storage technologies that could support Musandam’s future energy requirements. The consultancy will examine solar photovoltaic (PV), wind power, hybrid renewable energy systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and other renewable or storage technologies that may be suitable for the region.
The appointed consultant will be expected to conduct a detailed assessment of the available options and determine their technical feasibility and economic viability. The study is intended to help identify practical clean energy solutions that can contribute to long-term energy security while supporting Oman’s sustainability and decarbonisation objectives.
PWP has made the tender documents available for purchase from August 24, 2026, through September 3, 2026. The document fee is OMR 500, excluding Value Added Tax (VAT). However, registered small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with a valid Riyada card are exempt from the document fee and can obtain the tender documents free of charge.
Tender documents must be purchased electronically through the official PWP website, which provides online payment facilities. Interested bidders can also contact PWP’s procurement office for clarification or procurement-related queries.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 12:00 PM Oman Time on September 24, 2026. Participating bidders are required to provide a Bank Guarantee or Tender Bond as part of their submissions. The security must comply with the conditions specified in the tender documents or may be provided through a bank-certified cheque equivalent to at least 1% of the total tender value. The tender security must remain valid for 120 days from the proposal submission deadline.
The feasibility study is expected to provide PWP with a clearer understanding of Musandam’s renewable energy potential and the technologies best suited to its requirements. The initiative represents another step in Oman’s efforts to expand renewable energy deployment, strengthen energy resilience and support the country’s broader transition toward a sustainable energy system.
