Powertrac Group has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the development of 480 MW of distributed solar projects in Gujarat, marking a significant step in the expansion of decentralized renewable energy infrastructure in the state.
The agreements have been executed with Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (PGVCL) under Gujarat’s Distributed Renewable Energy Bilateral Purchase (DREBP) program. The projects are expected to attract an investment of approximately INR 2,155 crore and will contribute to the state’s renewable energy and grid modernization objectives.
Under the PPAs, electricity generated from the solar installations will be supplied at a tariff of INR 2.76 per kWh. The projects will utilize domestically manufactured, DCR-compliant photovoltaic modules, supporting India’s efforts to strengthen local solar manufacturing capabilities while advancing clean energy deployment.
The distributed solar plants will be connected through the 11 kV feeder-level substation network, enabling localized power generation and delivery. This approach is expected to reduce transmission losses, improve grid efficiency, and enhance the reliability of electricity supply across the region.
According to the company, land acquisition, engineering activities, procurement planning, and project development work are currently underway. Financial closure is in its final stages, while site preparation activities have already commenced.
The projects form part of Gujarat’s broader strategy to accelerate renewable energy deployment through decentralized generation models. Distributed solar installations are increasingly being viewed as an effective solution for strengthening grid infrastructure, improving energy access, and supporting the integration of renewable energy into local distribution networks.
Once operational, the 480 MW portfolio is expected to contribute significantly to clean electricity generation in Gujarat, supporting decarbonization efforts, reducing dependence on conventional power sources, and enhancing long-term energy security.
The announcement further underscores Gujarat’s position as one of India’s leading renewable energy markets and highlights the growing role of distributed solar projects in the country’s energy transition journey.
