Desert Technologies Strengthens African Renewable Energy Presence with AI-Driven Solar and Storage Technologies at AEF 2026

Desert Technologies, a Saudi Arabia-based provider of solar energy and energy storage solutions, participated in the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) 2026, held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The event brought together investors, policymakers, energy companies, and industry stakeholders to discuss the future of Africa’s energy sector under the theme, “Building Africa’s Industrial Future.”

During the forum, Desert Technologies showcased a portfolio of integrated renewable energy solutions, including high-performance solar modules, advanced battery energy storage systems, and artificial intelligence-powered technologies designed to improve solar plant efficiency and reliability. The company highlighted solutions focused on energy generation forecasting, predictive maintenance, real-time performance monitoring, consumption forecasting, and intelligent energy management.

The company stated that these technologies are intended to enhance operational efficiency, support renewable energy deployment, and increase the economic viability of clean energy projects across African markets.

Desert Technologies also participated in several strategic discussions during the forum. Khalid Al-Shuwaier, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Projects Sector, joined a leadership roundtable involving senior public and private sector representatives to discuss the role of clean energy technologies in supporting Africa’s industrial growth and sustainable development objectives.

Additionally, Haitham Abdo, General Manager of Development at Desert Technologies, participated in a panel discussion focused on the future role of artificial intelligence and renewable energy in driving economic transformation and sustainability across the continent.

According to Al-Shuwaier, the company’s participation reflects its ongoing engagement in Africa’s renewable energy sector and its commitment to supporting sustainable energy development. He noted that the forum provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and promote Saudi renewable energy expertise internationally, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.

At the exhibition, Desert Technologies presented several renewable energy products, including the SAHARA Solar Container, an integrated solar and energy storage system for remote and hybrid applications; Solar Kit, a plug-and-play solar power solution; Solar Pump Inverter, designed for solar-powered water pumping applications; and its range of high-efficiency solar panels.

The company also highlighted its experience in developing mini-grid projects aimed at expanding electricity access in underserved and remote communities. Desert Technologies noted that such solutions are particularly relevant for addressing energy access challenges across Africa, where hundreds of millions of people remain without reliable electricity.

Abdo emphasized the growing importance of digital technologies in the energy sector, stating that future energy systems will increasingly rely on artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled infrastructure to improve flexibility, resilience, and efficiency. He added that the focus is shifting from simply generating power to creating intelligent energy systems capable of supporting industrialization and digital transformation.

During the event, Desert Technologies also held discussions with renewable energy developers, financial institutions, and banking partners operating across Africa to explore potential collaborations and future project opportunities. The company said these engagements support its strategy of delivering scalable clean energy solutions while contributing to sustainable development and energy independence across the continent.
