The Rajasthan Solarpark Development Company Limited (RSDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from developers for the establishment of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan. The initiative aims to make effective use of the available 680 MW grid connectivity during non-solar hours and strengthen the integration of renewable energy into the state’s power network.
The proposed BESS project is designed to store excess or curtailed renewable energy generated during peak solar production hours and discharge it during evening and night-time periods when solar generation is unavailable. This approach is expected to improve grid stability, optimize the utilization of transmission infrastructure, and enhance the overall efficiency of the State Transmission Utility (STU) network.
Under the proposed model, the project will be developed on a developer-owned and developer-operated basis for a period of 15 years. The selected developer will have full responsibility for financing, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the battery storage facility. During this period, the developer will also retain ownership of the project and enjoy commercial flexibility in terms of energy utilization and revenue generation.
RSDCL will facilitate the project by providing land within the Bhadla Solar Park, enabling interconnection at the 132 kV voltage level, and supporting the developer in obtaining necessary regulatory approvals and clearances. The project aligns with the Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024, which provides multiple off-take options, including power supply to distribution companies (Discoms), captive consumption, and open access mechanisms.
The EoI process commenced on June 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM. A stakeholder consultation meeting is scheduled for June 24, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the RRECL Conference Room in Jaipur, providing interested parties an opportunity to discuss project-related aspects and provide feedback. The final date for submission of EoI responses is July 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
As this is an exploratory EoI intended to assess market interest and gather developer inputs, no Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) or Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) has been specified at this stage. These financial requirements are expected to be defined during the subsequent Request for Proposal (RfP) stage. However, interested applicants must pay a non-refundable EoI document fee of ₹1,000 plus 18% GST and a processing fee of ₹5,000 plus 18% GST.
To be eligible, participating companies or consortiums must demonstrate a positive net worth for the financial year 2025-26, certified by a statutory auditor. Applicants are also expected to submit proposed BESS configurations, such as 2-hour, 4-hour, or 6-hour storage durations, along with suggested energy-sharing or revenue-sharing models with RSDCL. Responses may be submitted either online or offline to the designated Project Manager, Deepak Sharma, at the RSDCL office in Jaipur.
