The Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC) has scheduled a public hearing on the draft State Grid Code Regulations, 2026, to gather stakeholder views before finalizing the new regulatory framework. The hearing will be held on July 24, 2026, at 11:30 AM in the MSERC Conference Hall.
The Commission had earlier released the draft regulations on June 9, 2026, and invited stakeholders, including utilities, industry participants, and consumers, to submit their comments, suggestions, and objections. The original deadline for submissions was June 29, 2026. However, following requests from several stakeholders seeking additional time, MSERC extended the deadline to July 8, 2026.
After receiving multiple responses, the Commission has decided to conduct a public hearing to discuss the feedback and consider the issues raised before finalizing the regulations. According to the public notice issued on July 14, 2026, by MSERC Secretary E. Slong, the hearing is being conducted under the powers granted to the Commission under the Electricity Act, 2003.
