Tata Power reported a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of ₹1,401 crore for the first quarter of FY27, marking an 11% year-on-year (YoY) increase, supported by strong performance across its generation, transmission and distribution (T&D), and renewable energy businesses. The company also posted revenue of ₹18,898 crore, up 8% YoY, while EBITDA increased 8% YoY to ₹4,249 crore.
The company said its core businesses of generation, transmission and distribution, and renewables delivered robust growth during the quarter, with revenue, EBITDA and PAT increasing 12%, 12% and 14% YoY, respectively. Tata Power also recorded its highest-ever quarterly capital expenditure of ₹5,375 crore, reflecting continued investments in clean energy infrastructure and grid expansion.
Tata Power’s renewable energy business reported a 15% YoY increase in PAT to ₹612 crore, while its solar cell and module manufacturing business posted a 3.9-fold rise in PAT to ₹371 crore. The rooftop solar segment also delivered strong growth, with PAT increasing 1.7 times to ₹145 crore, driven by nationwide project execution and rising consumer adoption.
The company achieved record quarterly production at its TP Solar manufacturing facility, producing 1,001 MW of modules and 862 MW of solar cells during the quarter. Tata Power is also advancing plans to establish a 10 GW photovoltaic ingot and wafer manufacturing facility, having signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gopalpur SEZ for 128 acres of land.
In the rooftop solar business, Tata Power installed 371 MWp during the quarter, a 37% YoY increase, generating rooftop solar revenue of ₹1,350 crore. The company also launched integrated solar-plus-battery storage solutions, with cumulative rooftop installations reaching 5.2 GWp, serving more than 480,000 customers across India.
Tata Power’s renewable portfolio now stands at 12 GW, including 6.7 GW operational capacity and 5.3 GW under construction. During the quarter, the company commissioned Ladakh’s first commercial rooftop solar project and a 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Maharashtra.
The transmission business secured a Letter of Intent from REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) for the Ryapte intra-state transmission project in Karnataka, expanding Tata Power’s transmission portfolio to 7,894 circuit kilometres. The company also secured a 324 MW Letter of Award from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for its 1,000 MW Bhivpuri Pumped Hydro Storage Project in Maharashtra.
Commenting on the results, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, said the company is strengthening its integrated clean energy portfolio through solar, wind, battery storage and pumped hydro projects while continuing to invest in long-term growth initiatives.
