Ministry of Power Reopens Applications for CEA Member (Renewable Energy) Post to Attract Experienced Candidates

The Ministry of Power has invited additional applications for the post of Member (Renewable Energy) in the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on a deputation/short-term contract basis, reopening the recruitment process to attract more experienced professionals from the renewable energy sector.

According to a notification dated July 20, 2026, the Ministry has reissued the vacancy originally advertised on September 26, 2025, stating that the position is being circulated again to encourage applications from candidates with extensive experience in renewable energy.

The Ministry said applications must be submitted through the prescribed channel within 45 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News. Applicants are required to submit the prescribed application form along with attested copies of their Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) for the last five years, a Vigilance Clearance Certificate, an Integrity Certificate, and details of any penalties imposed during the past ten years.

The Ministry clarified that all other terms and conditions of the original vacancy notification dated September 26, 2025 will remain unchanged. The eligibility cut-off date will continue to be November 25, 2025, in line with the earlier advertisement. It also stated that candidates who had already applied in response to the previous notification do not need to submit fresh applications, as their applications will automatically be considered in the ongoing selection process.

Under the original vacancy notification, the Member (Renewable Energy) position is classified as a Level-15 post in the Central Electricity Authority with the ex-officio status of Additional Secretary to the Government of India. The appointment will be made for a five-year tenure on a deputation or short-term contract basis, subject to the condition that it will not extend beyond the officer’s date of superannuation.

Eligible candidates must be serving officers from the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, public sector undertakings, autonomous or statutory organisations, universities, or recognised research institutions. Applicants should either hold an analogous post or have at least five years of regular service in Level-14, along with a minimum of three years of field experience in renewable energy, as specified under the Electricity Act, 2003.

According to the vacancy notification, the selected Member (Renewable Energy) will advise the Central Government on technical matters related to renewable energy generation, formulate technical standards and regulations, support renewable energy integration into national electricity planning, and oversee mechanisms for collecting and maintaining renewable energy data across generation, transmission, distribution and utilisation.
