Tata Power Renewable Energy Commissions 190.5 MW Solar FDRE Project in Rajasthan

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 190.5 MW solar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project at Kalasar in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project forms part of the company’s 460 MW contractual FDRE capacity and has been developed under SJVN FDRE Tranche-1.

The project will supply renewable power to Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL).

The project integrates large-scale solar generation with battery energy storage and grid-support technologies to provide reliable and dispatchable renewable power. TPREL has deployed Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Harmonic Filter Bank and Static Var Generator systems as part of the project.

The company said the project was executed under compressed timelines and amid global supply chain disruptions affecting the availability of transmission line materials, module mounting structures and other critical equipment.

TPREL completed the project’s switchyard within three months, while the Harmonic Filter Bank was completed within one month, highlighting the company’s focus on accelerated project execution.

Following the commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.4 GW. This includes approximately 6.9 GW of operational capacity, comprising 5.6 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind power. Another 5.5 GW is currently under various stages of development and is expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 24 months.

The project strengthens TPREL’s renewable energy portfolio and supports India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
