Cube Green Energy, an integrated renewable energy and battery storage platform, has appointed Dr Felix Grolman as Executive Chair, effective August 1, 2026, as the company advances the expansion of its multi-gigawatt renewable generation and energy storage portfolio across Europe.
Grolman brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in renewable energy and energy infrastructure. He most recently served as CEO of VSB Group, where he led the company through a significant phase of growth. During his tenure, VSB expanded its project pipeline to more than 21 GW, increased its operating and under-construction capacity, and diversified into battery storage and e-mobility. His tenure culminated in the acquisition of VSB by TotalEnergies.
Grolman’s appointment follows Moritz von Plate, who joined Cube Green Energy as CEO in May 2026. The leadership transition comes as European energy policy increasingly focuses on energy security, grid resilience and rising electricity demand.
Recent policy initiatives, including the European Commission’s Electrification Action Plan and Germany’s proposed EEG framework for 2027–2032, are expected to support further investment in renewable generation, energy storage and grid infrastructure. Germany’s proposed framework targets 115 GW of onshore wind capacity by 2030.
Cube Green Energy currently operates more than 280 MW of renewable generation assets and has a development pipeline exceeding 1.8 GW. The company is leveraging its owned grid infrastructure, co-location capabilities and diversified technology platform to support the deployment of renewable generation, battery storage and other flexibility solutions across Europe.
Mohamed El Gazzar, Senior Partner at I Squared Capital, welcomed Grolman’s appointment, highlighting his sector expertise and track record in scaling renewable energy businesses.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr Felix Grolman said that Europe’s energy transition presents significant opportunities for integrated renewable generation and storage platforms. He added that Cube Green Energy’s portfolio, development pipeline and grid infrastructure provide a strong foundation for further growth.
The appointment is expected to strengthen Cube Green Energy’s leadership as it seeks to accelerate the development and delivery of renewable energy and storage infrastructure across European markets.
