American Clean Power Association Appoints Ken Young as Board Chair

The American Clean Power Association (ACP) has appointed Ken Young, CEO of Apex Clean Energy, as Chair of its Board of Directors. The organization has also appointed three new directors as it strengthens its leadership amid rising electricity demand and growing focus on clean energy deployment in the United States.

Young previously served as ACP Board Chair-Elect and will now lead the association’s Board as it works to advance reliable and affordable clean power, strengthen U.S. energy security and support the development of a resilient domestic energy sector.

As CEO of Apex Clean Energy, Young oversees the company’s strategy as well as the origination, development, construction and operation of utility-scale wind, solar, energy storage and distributed energy projects. During his more than 10 years in leadership at Apex, the company has commercialized more than 11 GW of projects. He previously served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Operations.

The ACP Board has also welcomed Justin Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Arevon; Robert L. Tabb, President and Chief Executive Officer of CoVolt Power; and Caroline Mead, Senior Vice President of Power Marketing at ENGIE North America.

Johnson and Tabb join the Board as representatives of new ACP member companies, while Mead succeeds David Carroll, who stepped down from the Board following a new professional opportunity.

In his role as Chair, Young will focus on advancing a long-term policy platform for the clean energy industry and strengthening collaboration across clean energy technologies. He will also continue supporting PowerVets, an ACP initiative focused on supporting veterans working in the clean energy sector.

Before joining Apex Clean Energy, Young held leadership positions at Vestas Wind Systems and renewable energy owner-operators. He began his career as a U.S. Army infantry officer and is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the University of Notre Dame, where he earned an MBA.
