Capcora has been appointed as the exclusive M&A adviser for the planned sale of renewable energy project rights held by SoWiTec Operation GmbH and related companies of the SOWITEC Group. The mandate was awarded by the creditors’ committee following a proposal from insolvency administrator Dr. Holger Leichtle, Partner at GÖRG.
The transaction covers approximately 32 GW of wind project rights across Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. Of the total portfolio, around 330 MW relates to projects in Germany. Capcora will lead the corporate M&A process and serve as the central point of contact for potential investors.
As part of its mandate, Capcora will prepare transaction materials, approach potential investors, coordinate the bidding process and support due diligence, commercial negotiations and contractual discussions. The adviser will also manage investor communications through a structured process aimed at supporting the insolvency administrator and creditors’ committee in preserving value across the portfolio.
Founded in 1993, SOWITEC is a renewable energy project developer with activities spanning wind and solar development. Its business covers site identification, planning, permitting and project structuring across multiple international markets.
The SOWITEC Group filed for insolvency in July 2026. The proceedings involve SOWITEC group GmbH, SOWITEC international GmbH, SOWITEC operation GmbH and SOWITEC projekt GmbH.
Commenting on the mandate, Jochen Magerfleisch, Managing Partner at Capcora, said the transaction combines a complex insolvency situation with a sizeable international renewable energy portfolio. He added that Capcora’s experience in distressed-asset transactions, including work for the insolvency administration of the eno Group, would support the firm’s role in managing the process and preserving value.
Capcora said it will approach the transaction with a focus on speed, process discipline and structured investor engagement, with the objective of maximising value from SOWITEC’s international project portfolio.
