Brookfield Commits Up To $600 Million To Expand ACME’s Green Fuels Platform

Brookfield has committed up to $600 million to support the green fuels platform of ACME Group, marking a significant expansion of its investment activity in green molecules across South Asia and the Middle East. The investment will be made through the Brookfield Global Transition Fund, which focuses on clean energy technologies and low-carbon industrial projects.

The funding will be directed to ACME Cleantech Ventures, a UK-registered platform of ACME Group responsible for developing and managing green hydrogen derivative projects. The investment will help accelerate the development of green ammonia and green methanol facilities in India and Oman.

Green ammonia and green methanol are produced using renewable energy and are being developed as lower-carbon alternatives to conventional fossil-fuel-based products. They can support the decarbonization of industries where direct electrification remains challenging, including chemicals, fertilizers, shipping and other heavy industrial applications.

The transaction represents Brookfield’s first major investment in green molecules across these regional markets. Brookfield already has a substantial clean energy presence in India, with approximately 50 GW of operational and planned wind and solar capacity. The new investment expands its involvement beyond renewable power generation into the production of clean industrial fuels and feedstocks.

ACME Group has established a presence in the green ammonia sector through its operating facility in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The company is also developing a green ammonia project in Duqm, Oman. In India, ACME has initiated additional green molecule projects in Odisha following the execution of power purchase agreements with the Solar Energy Corporation of India.

The company has also entered into long-term supply and offtake arrangements to strengthen the commercial foundation of its projects. Its partners and counterparties include Norway-based Yara International, Japan’s IHI Corporation and Mitsubishi Gas Chemicals. Indian fertilizer companies including IFFCO, Paradeep Phosphates, Coromandel International and Indorama India are also involved through commercial arrangements.

The partnership combines Brookfield’s institutional investment capabilities with ACME’s project development and operating experience in renewable energy and green fuels. The companies expect the investment to support the development of commercially viable green molecule supply chains.

The initiative comes as governments and industries increase their focus on reducing carbon emissions while improving energy security. Green hydrogen derivatives such as ammonia and methanol are being considered for applications across heavy industry, shipping and chemical production.

The investment is expected to help ACME expand its green fuels portfolio across India and Oman while providing Brookfield with increased exposure to the emerging green molecules market.
