The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA) have announced plans to combine their operations following approval by the Boards of Directors of both organizations. CCSA is expected to integrate its team, resources, and policy work into SEIA in early October.
The combination will bring together two organizations that have played prominent roles in advancing different segments of the US solar and energy storage industry. SEIA, founded in 1974, represents companies across utility-scale, commercial, residential, and storage markets, while CCSA has represented community solar and storage developers, businesses, and nonprofits for more than a decade.
Following the integration, the combined organization will represent companies across utility-scale, residential, commercial, and community solar and storage segments. The organizations said the expanded network and resources will strengthen their ability to engage on market and policy priorities at both the state and federal levels.
“By bringing CCSA into SEIA, we’re creating a stronger, more unified voice for the solar and storage industry,” said Tim Pawlenty, CEO of SEIA. “Together, we’ll build on CCSA’s success and become a more powerful advocate for every segment of the industry.”
CCSA was established more than a decade ago to expand access to community solar across the US. Jeff Cramer, departing CEO of CCSA, said the organization’s integration into SEIA comes as distributed community power takes on a larger role in addressing affordability and grid reliability.
“A little more than a decade ago, CCSA was formed to create greater access to solar for all Americans,” said Cramer. “I am deeply proud of the work we have done, the team we built, and the industry we helped shape, and equally excited to see it evolve inside SEIA.”
The announcement comes as solar and energy storage continue to expand their contribution to the US electricity system. According to the organizations, solar and storage together accounted for more than 70% of new electricity generation capacity added to the US grid so far in 2026.
The energy storage market also recorded its largest quarter on record in the second quarter of 2026, while US solar and energy storage manufacturing continues to reach new production milestones.
The combined organization will focus on representing the full range of solar and storage technologies and supporting continued industry growth across the United States.
