Sungrow Deutschland GmbH and be.storaged GmbH have signed a framework agreement to strengthen their long-standing cooperation on large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Germany.
Under the agreement, the companies plan to jointly deliver battery storage projects with a combined planned storage capacity of up to 1.6 GWh over the next two years. The partnership will cover the planning, development, implementation, and operational support of BESS projects.
The framework agreement establishes common principles for closer cooperation throughout the project development process. The companies said standardized processes, coordinated technical solutions, and early-stage joint planning are expected to streamline project execution, reduce coordination requirements, and shorten feedback cycles.
Dr Magnus Pielke, Managing Director of be.storaged, said the agreement will provide a basis for standardizing BESS projects at gigawatt-hour scale and accelerating their deployment. He also highlighted the potential for feedback from project planning, construction, and operations to support the development of future storage solutions and the industrialization of storage fleet management.
Moritz Rolf, Vice President and Regional Manager DACH, Benelux, Nordics and Turkey at Sungrow Europe, said the partnership is based on technical expertise and an understanding of the requirements of the German energy storage market. He added that the framework agreement is intended to support closer cooperation on future projects and the deployment of storage technologies.
Under the partnership, be.storaged will contribute its expertise in the development, planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational support of battery storage projects. Sungrow will provide battery energy storage systems, power electronics, and related service solutions.
The companies also plan to increase the use of Sungrow’s PowerTitan 3.0 large-scale battery storage system in future projects. The system integrates a 1.78 MW power conversion system (PCS) with 7.14 MWh of battery capacity in a 20-foot container and can be scaled up to 28.5 MWh, according to the companies.
The planned 1.6 GWh portfolio is expected to support the integration of renewable energy and provide additional flexibility to Germany’s power system by helping balance electricity generation and consumption.
Corinna Petznik, Supplier Management at be.storaged, said the framework agreement provides defined processes and technical solutions that are intended to reduce coordination efforts, shorten feedback cycles, and improve the efficiency of future storage project delivery.
