Sungrow has introduced its PowerHarbor all-in-one residential energy storage system in its first European markets, with the system now available in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The product, which was unveiled at Intersolar Europe 2026, integrates an inverter, battery, backup functionality and energy management into a single residential energy storage solution.
The launch comes as the Netherlands prepares to end its net-metering scheme for rooftop solar from January 1, 2027, increasing the potential role of battery storage in helping households consume more of their self-generated solar electricity.
PowerHarbor is built around Sungrow’s “Triple W” proposition — Win More, Waste Less and Work Faster — with features aimed at increasing solar self-consumption, optimizing energy use and simplifying installation.
AI-Based Energy Management
The system supports up to 160% PV-to-battery charging capability, allowing additional solar generation to be stored during periods of high production. It also offers a 0.66P discharge rate, enabling the stored energy capacity to be discharged in approximately 1.5 hours.
PowerHarbor is designed for virtual power plant (VPP) applications and is already integrated with 28 VPP platforms across Europe, according to Sungrow.
The system comes with iHomeManager Mini, an AI-based energy management solution that uses weather forecasts, household consumption patterns and electricity prices to determine when energy should be stored, retained or discharged.
Through integration with Shelly, the energy management system can also be extended to connected household appliances.
PowerHarbor supports up to 150% three-phase unbalanced output, allowing households to operate high-power appliances such as heat pumps, induction cookers and EV chargers even when electricity demand is unevenly distributed across phases.
Designed for Residential Solar Retrofits
Sungrow has designed PowerHarbor for both new installations and existing rooftop solar systems. In retrofit applications, the system can be deployed as separate inverter and battery units, allowing homeowners to add energy storage without necessarily replacing their existing PV equipment.
The system features a 100 V startup voltage and a wide maximum power point tracking (MPPT) range, which Sungrow said can support a wider range of existing solar string configurations, subject to electrical compatibility.
The battery system uses 314 Ah high-energy-density cells and has a depth of 25.5 cm. Battery modules are available in 6 kWh, 9 kWh and 10 kWh configurations, with up to 83 combinations possible within a single unit.
Each battery module includes an integrated battery optimizer, allowing additional modules to be added later, including modules with different capacities, without necessarily replacing existing batteries.
Plug-and-Play Installation
PowerHarbor uses a cable-free stacking design for its battery modules, with blind-mate connections that Sungrow said take approximately 10 seconds per module.
The system also integrates with EnergyBridge, a compact backup solution that combines five functions into a single DIN-rail-mounted device. Sungrow said the device can be up to 99% smaller by volume than a conventional gateway and can be installed inside a standard distribution box.
The iHomeManager Mini is also integrated as standard, eliminating the need for a separate energy management system control box.
Sungrow said the PowerHarbor launch is aimed at supporting households and installers across the Benelux region as residential solar markets increasingly shift toward energy storage, flexible electricity consumption and intelligent energy management.
