JSW Energy Approves Fundraising of Up to INR 11,000 Crore to Support 30 GW Capacity Target by 2030

JSW Energy Limited has approved fundraising initiatives worth up to Rs. 11,000 crore to support its long-term growth strategy and capacity expansion plans. The decisions were taken at the company’s board meeting held on October 28, 2026, as the power producer continues to strengthen its financial position and work towards achieving its target of 30 GW of power generation capacity by 2030.

As part of the fundraising plan, the board approved raising long-term funds of up to Rs. 5,000 crore through the issuance of rated and listed non-convertible debentures (NCDs). The debentures will be issued on a private placement basis in one or more tranches. The company’s Finance Committee will oversee the process under the approved authorization. The fundraising is intended to support the company’s capital requirements and provide financial flexibility for its future business plans.

The board also approved extending the validity of an existing shareholder-approved fundraising authorization. Under an approval granted at an extraordinary general meeting in January 2026, JSW Energy had received permission to raise up to Rs. 10,000 crore. Of this amount, Rs. 6,000 crore remains unutilized. The company plans to extend the validity of this funding route to access capital through eligible securities issued via private offerings, preferential allotments or qualified institutions placements (QIP). To proceed, the company will seek the required approval from its members through a postal ballot.

These initiatives build on JSW Energy’s previous capital-raising activities. Earlier in 2026, the company raised Rs. 4,000 crore through a qualified institutions placement. It also generated gross proceeds of Rs. 3,150 crore through the partial divestment of its shareholding in JSW Steel, releasing capital to support its financial requirements.

The company reported cash and cash equivalents of Rs. 15,698 crore, providing a substantial liquidity base for its operations and planned investments.

With additional fundraising options and available liquidity, JSW Energy aims to strengthen its ability to finance future projects, expand its generation portfolio and advance its long-term growth strategy. Its target of reaching 30 GW of power generation capacity by 2030 remains central to its expansion plans.
