Emerson (a company based out of St. Louis, Missouri, USA) is a global technology and engineering company providing innovative solutions for customers in industrial, commercial, and residential markets. Recently, Emerson collaborated with SirajPower for a new project of installing a solar rooftop plant in its Dubai office. The office situated at the Middle East and Africa Head Office is now the largest solar rooftop plant in a single location within Jebel Ali.
This significant sustainability project supports Emerson’s long-term commitment and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals to promote decarbonization efforts, minimize emissions and enhance resource efficiency.
The project is fully designed, financed, constructed, and operated by SirajPower. It is covering an area of 19,340 sqm across four of Emerson’s office buildings and warehouses with 5,489 solar panels in Jebel Ali South.
This system will generate 3.923 GWh of clean energy every year and has a capacity of 2.6 MWp. Annually, this solar plant will diminish the company’s carbon emissions by 2,891 metric tons. The plant is anticipated to go live by Q4.
The project also aligns with DEWA’s Shams Dubai program which is an initiative to make Dubai the world’s smartest city through using various energy mixes and by encouraging the use of renewable and clean energy sources.
Emerson’s Middle East and Africa President, Vidya Ramnath, said, “Emerson is transforming its culture, business practices, and infrastructure to support a more inclusive and sustainable planet. This solar panel installation project is a great example of our commitment toward sustainability in Dubai and is in line with our global sustainability framework, the ‘Greening Of, Greening By, and Greening With Emerson’ which addresses how we, as a company, approach sustainability through how we do business, how we support our customers and how we collaborate with stakeholders.”
Laurent Longuet, CEO of SirajPower, stated, “We’re thrilled to have such an enormous global company like Emerson join our journey to a greener economy. As climate change and global warming-related challenges are becoming increasingly important, more companies are beginning to prioritize sustainability as part of their goals towards a sustainable future. With clean energy at the very core of the UAE’s sustainability vision for the next 50 years, we are honored to be able to support the country achieve its goals.”
