Uzbekistan To Build 500 MW Solar PV Project

In recent news, various new solar PV plants will be set up by JSC National Grid, Uzbekistan with a total capacity of 500 MW. The company has launched its tender.

Developers who are interested can submit their applications for pre-qualifications till November 29.

The solar plants will be constructed in Bukhara, Namangan, and Khorezm regions on the build–own–operate–transfer (BOOT) basis.

The procurement of the first two solar tenders was announced in August mid by the Ministry of Uzbekistan.

The next tender is for 400 MW capacity to be set up in the Kashkadarya and Fergana regions.

The target for the country is set to 5 GW by 2030. Uzbekistan only had 4 MW of solar power installed by the end of 2020 and there were no registered PV in the country last year as per the reports.

Uzbekistan recently inaugurated a 100 MW solar PV plant in Masdar.
