India To Meet Half of Its Energy Needs from Renewable by 2030: NITI Member

Saraswat, speaking at an event in Mumbai, stated that India would also reduce its total carbon emissions by 1 Billion tonnes between now and 2030. India will reach Net Zero by 2070.

He addressed the Norway-India Business Summit 2022, organized by CII and the Embassy of Norway.

Saraswat also stressed that deep decarbonisation is possible only if there are broad-based systems approaches across a range of options, including renewables and Hydrogen.

He spoke about alternative fuels for reducing emissions and import. BioCNG, Ethanol, and Methanol are currently available. In future, green Hydrogen will become available through renewables. This will result in a 40% reduction in carbon emissions.
