ArcelorMittal, Ayana Renewable and 3 States To Get Green Power from Greenko

A top company official stated that Greenko Group will supply green energy to ArcelorMittal and Ayana Renewable Power, as well as three other states, from the 5,230 MW renewable power plant being built.

This plant, which will be built at a cost approximately USD 3 billion, is the largest in renewable energy storage. ArcelorMittal, a global steel giant, has invested approximately USD 600 million in the project for 1,000 MW of capacity.

Of 5,230 MW, 3,300 MW are solar, 550-MW wind, and 1,680 MW are pump storage capacities. Daily storage capacity for the project will be 10,800 MW.

PTI was told by Mahesh Kolli, the Joint Managing Director of the company, that “Renewable Energy will be supplied ArcelorMittal and Ayana (Renewable Power), and discoms located in Rajasthan, West Bengal and Bihar.”

Kolli stated that the power will be drawn from 1,680 storage capacities. He also said that ArcelorMittal would take 250 MW from its plant at Hazira in Gujarat. Ayana Renewable Power will receive 550 MW, and the remainder will be supplied to the states.

In response to the question about agreements for purchasing power, Greenko Group CEO Anil Chalamalasetty stated that most of the PPAs were signed for green power supply.

He did not provide any additional information about tariffs, etc.

He stated that the project will be completed by 2023.

“We have pioneered storage with this project. The CEO stated that this was possible because of policy support at both the national and state levels.”

Greenko Group, Hyderabad-based, is one of the most important renewable energy (RE), companies. It has a total installed capacity of 7.5 GW and includes solar, wind, and hydro generation assets. They are located in 15 states.
