Speaking about the drive, Mr Nilesh Kane – Chief Mumbai Distribution, Tata Power said, “We are continually empowering our customers through smart and efficient energy solutions. With Smart meter data analytics, consumers can optimize their consumption and ensure savings in their energy bills. These meters are providing customers real time understanding of the power consumption on an  hourly, daily and monthly basis. Valuable data analytics and benchmarking derived from the smart meters is being provided to customers for energy audits and better energy management making sustainable lifestyle attainable for them. ”

Smart meter data is useful for network planning, capex optimization, energy audits and other activities like meter firmware updating through remote meter reconnection and disconnection metering, remote monitoring with minimal manual interventions and site visits. Tata Power has ensured more than 100 energy audits in the recent times. Smart Meters will also help in providing transparency along with bouquet of value added features.
