“Commercial and industrial (C&I), have the opportunity to use renewables to achieve the green label”, said Ghanshyam Prasad, Sr. Official, Central Electricity Authority.
He further said that green power has its own challenges in terms its availability, intermittency, and accessibility.
He was addressing the event organised by the World Resources Institute (WRI) India and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) on Tuesday.
Winds of Change: Lessons for the Indian Offshore Wind Energy Sector was jointly launched by WRI and NIIF. It examines the potential to scale offshore wind as quickly as solar energy in India.
Prasad stated that India must be focused on energy security, energy independence, and energy reliability for consumers while also focusing on energy transformation.
In a message to the delegates, Vandana Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) stated that India is at the edge of energy transition.
She stated that India is fourth in the world for installed renewable energy (RE), today. Over the past eight years, RE capacity has tripled while solar has grown by 25 times. We aren’t content with our achievements. This is due to a variety of carefully crafted policy and program efforts as well as structural changes.
