Egypt And Norway Sign Agreement For Joint Green Project Cooperation In Ammonia And Hydrogen Production

Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Cairo, Hilde Klimtsdal, witnessed the signing of a joint agreement between the Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company, Mopco, and the Norwegian Skatek Company for joint cooperation in the field of implementing green projects that include the production of green ammonia from green hydrogen.

Eng. Tarek El-Molla explained that the agreement comes as a confirmation of the Egyptian state’s commitment to activating international commitments and agreements with regard to limiting climate change and within the framework of expanding the implementation of green projects to achieve sustainable economic development by strengthening international investments and partnerships in this field.

Skatek is a leading company in the field of green energy solutions and has expertise to enable the establishment of a new integrated complex for the production of green ammonia to meet part of the local and export needs.

El-Molla added that the agreement is in line with the ministry’s vision for energy transition and the policies followed for the gradual reduction of emissions, in a way that serves the strategy of transforming Egypt into a regional center for the energy exchange.

The agreement was signed by Eng. Ibrahim Makki, Chairman of the Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company, Eng. Mohamed Sobhi, Chairmanย of MOPCO, and Mr. Terrier Belskog, CEO of Skatek, in the presence of the company’s regional director for North Africa and the Middle East and director of business development for Skatek, Eng. Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Undersecretary for Projects, and ย Eng. ย Alaa Hajar, Undersecretary for the Office The technician.
