SJVN Green Energy, a subsidiary of SJVN, has awarded a contract worth INR 132.64 crore to BVG India for a balance-of-system (BOS) package for its 100 MW solar project in Punjab. This is the first BOS contract awarded by SGEL. The BOS package includes all components of a photovoltaic system except the photovoltaic panels, such as wiring, switches, solar inverters, and battery banks. The contract also includes operation and maintenance of the solar PV plant for three years.
SJVN won the project through a tariff-based competitive bidding process on a build, own, and operate basis. The project was secured through an e-reverse auction at a tariff of INR 2.65 per unit. The commissioning of this project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 259,798 tonnes and contribute to the government’s mission of reducing its carbon footprint. The tentative cost of construction for the project is INR 545 crore.
The project is expected to generate 227 million units of energy in the first year and an estimated cumulative energy generation of 5,302 million units over 25 years. The power purchase agreement has already been signed between Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and SJVN for 25 years. The contract agreement was signed by the Deputy General Manager of SGEL, Manoj Kumar Negi, and Director of BVG India, Pankaj Dhingra.
SJVN aims to add 5,000 MW of capacity by 2023-24, 25,000 MW by 2030, and 50,000 MW by 2040.
