The project consists of six bays of 132kV GIS, four bays of 33kV GIS switchgear, and two 125MVA Transformers. Another 91 km overhead transmission line is constructed that connects the Thumrait grid station with the Saih Al Khairat grid station. The total investment is RO 13 million.

This project signifies a strategic investment made by OETC with the purpose of fulfilling the future electricity requirements of the Dhofar Governorate. Its primary objective is to ensure a steady and dependable power supply for various industries, including poultry farms, agriculture farms, and manufacturing units.

Eng. Khaled Marhoon Al Harmali, the Project Manager at OETC, emphasized the project’s significance as it aligns with Oman’s ambitious plan of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This will save 42.3 million litres of diesel fuels annually and will eliminate environmental pollution.
