India-US Renewable Energy Partnership: Climate Envoy John Kerry Explores Joint Investment Initiatives

In a significant step towards strengthening climate cooperation between India and the United States, John Kerry, the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, arrived in India for a five-day visit. During his visit, he held crucial meetings with top Indian officials, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of Heavy Industries Mahendra Nath Pandey.


In the meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, both leaders engaged in discussions on the climate agenda and other related issues. Kerry expressed his optimism about the immense potential for collaboration between India and the US in advancing the climate agenda. He highlighted areas such as science, technology, and the acceleration of the transition to a clean energy economy where both nations can work together effectively.

Upon landing in Delhi, Kerry also met Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey, where they explored India’s growth prospects as a manufacturing hub for heavy electric vehicles. Kerry later tweeted about their discussion, expressing his pride in working towards shared goals on climate and clean energy.

The US State Department emphasized that Kerry’s visit aims to promote common objectives on climate change and clean energy. The meetings and discussions during John Kerry’s visit underscore the commitment of both India and the United States towards collaborative efforts in combatting climate change and advancing renewable energy solutions. As the world’s two largest democracies, their joint endeavors hold significant promise in addressing the global climate crisis.
