BayWa r.e. has appointed Daniel Gaefke to its Group Management Board as part of its strategic focus on expanding its global Wind and Solar Projects business. As the current Director of Projects APAC, Daniel will join the Board alongside CEO Matthias Taft, CFO Mihaela Seidl, and COO Guenter Haug.
With an increased focus on global renewable energy transition, BayWa r.e. has set ambitious targets, aiming to triple the capacity of its existing wind and solar development by 2026 while growing its Independent Power Producer (IPP) portfolio to an impressive 3 gigawatts (GW).
To realize these goals, Daniel Gaefke will take on the responsibility of overseeing BayWa r.e.’s onshore Wind and Solar Projects businesses. Additionally, he will be in charge of leading the company’s Energy Solutions division, which supports corporations in their own transition to renewable energy.
Daniel Gaefke has been a part of BayWa r.e. since 2016, successfully spearheading the company’s growth in the APAC region. Under his leadership, BayWa r.e. has made significant strides in market entries and expansion throughout Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, and Australia. His appointment to the Group Management Board signifies a critical step towards achieving BayWa r.e.’s ambitious targets and driving renewable energy adoption worldwide.
Starting from November 1st, 2023, Daniel Gaefke will officially become a member of the Board, concentrating on leading BayWa r.e.’s EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and APAC (Asia Pacific) Projects businesses. Meanwhile, CEO Matthias Taft will continue to oversee the US Projects business as part of the company’s bold expansion strategies for the US and the broader region.
Matthias Taft will also maintain his role in driving BayWa r.e.’s flourishing offshore wind business and solidifying the company’s position in the market.
