Kuwait is actively moving towards the construction of clean energy facilities to address increasing electricity demand and provide cost-effective power solutions, according to the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.
The country is anticipating a power shortage in the coming years and is pursuing the establishment of Independent Power Provider (IPP) projects, where corporations or consortiums will build solar power stations to generate clean and affordable electricity.
This initiative aligns with Kuwait’s commitment to the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting renewable energy and reducing emissions.
A memorandum of understanding with China’s national energy department has been signed to enhance power systems and renewable energy efforts, emphasizing the importance of transitioning to clean energy through environmentally friendly projects, such as installing solar panels on rooftops.
