Egypt’s President And AIIB Discusses Clean Energy Collaboration And Development Partnership

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt held a meeting with Mr Jin Liqun, President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), during the Eighth Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

During the meeting, President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation for its strong relationship with the AIIB, highlighting the bank’s significant role as a development partner for Egypt. He noted that hosting the AIIB Board of Governors’ meetings for the first time demonstrated the bank’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s development efforts. President El-Sisi expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the AIIB, particularly in the areas of transportation, clean energy, and the transition to a green economy.

Mr. Jin Liqun, President of the AIIB, commended Egypt for successfully hosting the AIIB Board of Governors’ meetings, marking the first time these meetings were held in Africa. He expressed the bank’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with Egypt and its financial institutions. Mr. Jin Liqun praised Egypt’s achievements in comprehensive economic and social development and pledged to enhance the bank’s investment portfolio in Egypt, especially in financing vital infrastructure projects across various sectors.
