The project’s development will unfold across two phases. The ongoing first phase involves a 3,000 tonne green ammonia pilot project, initiated subsequent to the signing of hydrogen purchase and power purchase agreements in May 2023. Following its completion, the second phase will harness 2.4 GW of wind energy to facilitate the production of 500,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.

This venture represents ACWA Power’s second large-scale green hydrogen endeavor, following the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia, a collaborative effort between ACWA Power, NEOM, and Air Products.

With Uzbekistan ranking as ACWA Power’s second-largest investment market, the company’s enduring commitment is evidenced by a portfolio encompassing 12 projects, predominantly renewable, within the nation’s landscape
