In a significant move to enhance the adoption of renewable energy in Bihar, the Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) has issued a tender for the establishment of a 185 MW (AC) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant, coupled with a 254 MW battery energy storage system in Kajra, Lakhisarai district.

Valued at an estimated โ‚น2,26,000 for the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD), this project underscores the state’s dedication to sustainable development and its response to the growing demand for clean energy.

The tender notice is calling for consultancy firms to provide Owners Engineer (OE) services, encompassing design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning for this substantial renewable energy venture.

The tender process has a defined schedule, commencing with the sale of tender documents on January 1, 2024. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for January 8, 2024, to be conducted online. The deadline for online submission of the EMD and original bids is January 22, 2024, with the technical bid opening on the same day.

The financial aspect of the bids will be communicated to eligible bidders through email, reflecting a transparent and digitally-driven approach. The entire tender process will be conducted through e-tendering, available for download on the eproc2.bihar.gov.in portal. This mandates online payments and electronic document submissions, aligning with the state’s commitment to digitization and efficiency.

Bihar’s endeavor to integrate solar power on a large scale, combined with energy storage, is a significant stride towards achieving energy security and sustainability goals. The inclusion of battery storage is noteworthy, as it addresses the intermittency of renewable energy sources, ensuring a more stable and reliable power supply.

This initiative is in harmony with India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), with the National Solar Mission being a key component aimed at promoting sustainable energy and mitigating the country’s carbon footprint.

With this project, Bihar is poised to make substantial progress in its renewable energy capacity, marking a pivotal moment in India’s trajectory towards a more environmentally friendly future.
